The Center for Community Health and Well-Being, Inc. is a health and human services agency that was founded in 1988 as The Birthing Project, an all volunteer, community service project to lower infant mortality in Sacramento.  We have grown to include a comprehensive women’s health clinic and risk reduction programs for young women.  The Center was incorporated in 1991.

Originally established to reduce the high mortality rate among African American babies, the Center now serves all of our community’s diverse population.  We actively engage community residents in identifying our needs; planning, implementing and evaluating services and working collaboratively with other agencies, organizations and individuals to improve and maximize our health status.

The majority of the staff is comprised of previous clients and/or residents of the neighborhoods we serve and reflect the ethnicity, gender and ages of our clients.

MISSION
To improve the health and well-being of our Sacramento community and assure for our families and children, the best environment in which to grow and thrive.
